Songs of Winter Roundup

Last week Toby's was packed to the gills as the choir performed its Songs of Winter finale at Path of Lights. Superbly arranged and directed by Kristine Barrett, this a set of traditional northern and eastern European vocal music was among most challenging and rewarding music the choir has ever done.

Kristine will return to lead the choir's Spring Session starting April 6.

Songs of Winter Testimonials

"I had such a marvelous experience...this is my first time singing with a choir and I have signed up for the next session. Kristine is an amazing director...so patient and enthusiastic and supportive."
– Anne Sands, Bolinas/Dogtown

"There is something about blending one’s voice with others. It’s a feeling not quite like any other, the sheer capacity of the vibrations. It’s amazing. It’s incredible and transcendental always!"
– Norene Jelliffe, Point Reyes Station

"It was thrilling to learn such different music with such a generous and genuine conductor. And we pulled it off! We sounded great. Thank you for taking the leap with us, trusting that we could do it."
– Kerry Livingston, Inverness

"The selection of songs was really wonderful! The music projected such strength and gentle beauty at the same time, and gave us a tiny glimpse into these very different cultures from where the music originated. The challenge of the music kept us working at it together and it was engaging and fun, too. Kristine is awesome. Such a different style, but as is characteristic of the West Marin Choir, the sense of shared community in producing beautiful music was strong and uplifting."
– Leslie Adler-Ivanbrook, Inverness Park
